چکیده

ALTHOUGH genes governing many characters have been transferred between species, the inheritance of only a few of these genes has been studied in detail in their new genetic backgrounds. ALLARD and SHANDS (1954) reported that the stem rust resistance transferred from Triticum timopheeui Zhuk. to a common wheat variety C.I. 12633 was controlled in certain hybrids by duplicate dominant genes linked with a recombination value of 14.8 percent. NYQUIST (1957) found that the genes governing resistance were located on chromosome XIII. However, when still other hybrids were studied, the data did not always support the hypothesis of duplicate linked genes. Consequently, the inheritance of stem rust resistance has been studied further.

Performance and Mapping of Leaf Rust Resistance Transferred to Wheat from Triticum timopheevii subsp. armeniacum.

ABSTRACT Host plant resistance is an economical and environmentally sound method of control of leaf rust caused by the fungus Puccinia triticina, which is one of the most serious diseases of wheat (Triticum aestivum) worldwide. Wild relatives of wheat, including the tetraploid T. timopheevii subsp. armeniacum, represent an important source of genes for resistance to leaf rust. The objectives of...

Molecular Cytogenetic Characterization of two Triticum–Secale–Thinopyrum Trigeneric Hybrids Exhibiting Superior Resistance to Fusarium Head Blight, Leaf Rust, and Stem Rust Race Ug99

Fusarium head blight (FHB), leaf rust, and stem rust are the most destructive fungal diseases in current world wheat production. The diploid wheatgrass, Thinopyrum elongatum (Host) Dewey (2n = 2x = 14, EE) is an excellent source of disease resistance genes. Two new Triticum-Secale-Thinopyrum trigeneric hybrids were derived from a cross between a hexaploid triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack, 2n...

Microsatellite markers for the Triticum timopheevi-derived leaf rust resistance gene Lr18 on wheat 5BL chromosome

Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina, is a common wheat disease worldwide. Developing resistant cultivars through deploying new or pyramiding resistance genes in a suitable line, is the most effective approach to control this disease. However, to stack genes in a genotype, efficient and reliable markers are required. In the present study, F2 plants and their corresponding F3 families from a ...

The occurrence of Sr31 and Sr36 stem rust resistance genes in wheat cultivars registered in Hungary in the past 25 years

Stem rust along with foliar diseases is a harmful pathogen causing strong yield reduction worldwide. Resistant cultivars provide efficient way for wheat growers to avoid yield losses. In our study, 200 wheat cultivars registered in Hungary in the past twenty five years, were investigated using molecular markers. A significant part of the cultivars carried the 1BL.1RS translocation, the source o...

شناسایی جدایه های Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici با بیماریزایی برای ژن مقاومت Sr31 در استان های غربی ایران

Stem or black rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks. and Henn (Pgt), was the most feared and devastating disease of wheat at one time worldwide. The fear from stem rust was understandable because an apparently healthy looking crop about 3 weeks prior to harvest could reduce to a black tangle of broken stems and shriveled grain by harvest. The disease has been co...
